1961 Volvo Duett Wagon. Arizona car.

When we bought this rare Volvo Wagon we were told only 5 of them were sold new in Phoenix, Arizona and this is one of them.

The Volvo had only very little rust and it has been professionally repaired, mostly floor pans inside the car.

We have redone the interior in cloth and to the original design, nicer to sit on than vinyl.

Since the car was sold new here it is a US model with roll down windows in the back seat. No other model had this feature, and trust me, it gets hot in the back seat with no ventilation at all.  I drove through Europe one summer from Sweden to Italy and back and roll down windows in the back would have been nice!!

The car has been media blasted and is sitting in primer right now.

We started restoring it but have not had time to get it painted and totally assembled yet.

Except for the new interior we also bought a new tinted windshield from Finland (they make the best repro glass in the world), and I bought a 1966 PV Sport that was hit in the rear to take the B18 engine and transmission from. The owner told me he had rebuilt the engine on the PV Sport and it did run great.

We disassembled the PV and the B18 engine with dual SU carb’s and the 4 speed transmission is installed in the Duett now. We are also changing the Duett to 12 volt and we are using the dash with gauges from the PV. The dash board was removed, painted and reinstalled in the car. Brakes were rebuilt all around.

The radiator was just recored and the fuel tank boiled out and reinstalled in the Duett. We are working on the car but at a very slow pace. Next the firewall will be painted and we will also paint the beige area around the windows so we can reinstall the glass and also start installing the new interior in the Volvo. And as time permits we’ll paint the rest of the car also. That is unless it sells first of course. The price depends on how much time and money we have spent on the car at that time.

Please note, the picture of the repainted red/beige Volvo is what our car will look like after it is painted in original color
